High-Level Review Meeting Held to Accelerate UP’s $1 Trillion Economy Goal Through IT and Electronics

Lucknow: A high-level review meeting was held to assess the progress of various policies, schemes and programmes being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Information Technology and Electronics and to examine the department’s role in achieving the state’s $1 trillion economy target.

The meeting was chaired by Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister for Information Technology and Electronics, Uttar Pradesh, at Yojana Bhawan in Lucknow.

Detailed discussions were held on the current status, achievements and future action plan for the IT and electronics sector in line with the state’s economic growth objective. Officials reviewed the implementation of the IT Policy, Electronics Manufacturing Policy, Semiconductor Policy, Data Centre Policy, Startup Policy and provisions related to Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

The meeting also focused on attracting investment in IT, electronics manufacturing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres and startups, with emphasis on generating employment and expanding economic activity across the state.

Sharma directed officials to ensure the effective and time-bound implementation of all departmental policies and schemes. He called for new initiatives and incentive programmes to be finalised and implemented within stipulated timelines so that investors, companies and young people in the state can derive maximum benefit.

The minister also stressed the need to promote investment alongside employment generation, skill development and balanced technological growth across different regions of Uttar Pradesh. He called for greater speed and transparency in the approval of investment proposals, disbursement of incentives and implementation of projects.

Sharma said the IT and electronics sector has an important role to play in achieving the state’s $1 trillion economy objective and called for stronger coordination among all concerned sections and institutions. He also directed officials to conduct regular reviews of programme implementation and progress against prescribed targets.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on accelerating investment, innovation, employment and technological development, while strengthening the contribution of the IT and electronics sector towards making Uttar Pradesh digitally and technologically stronger.

Among those present were Alok Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Information Technology and Electronics; Akanksha Rana, IAS, Special Secretary/Managing Director, UPLC, Department of Information Technology and Electronics; and Jasjit Kaur, IAS, Special Secretary/Managing Director, UPLC, Department of Information Technology and Electronics, along with other senior departmental officials.
